Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! We have HICAPS available at the clinic, and all our practitioners are registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), so if your private health insurance covers acupuncture then you can claim on the spot and only pay the gap.
A difficult question to answer!

It really depends on why you are coming in for treatments, what are we treating? If it is an acute condition then generally you may see faster results (so after a few treatments). But if it is a long standing issue or more chronic injury then you will probably require a longer course of treatments.

My mentor used to say ‘for every year of the problem, expect a month of treatment’.

Needles are often associated with pain, however acupuncture can be a deeply relaxing experience. We use very thin needles (much thinner than Western hypodermic needles that are hollow and have a sharp cutting edge). Our needles are sterile, single use and are smooth with a polished tip to ensure a comfortable feel to them. Once the needles are in there is a dull, heavy, numb sensation which the wears off during the treatment. If at any point there real discomfort and pain, we will ease the needle back and adjust it so it is comfortable.

If you are absolutely not wanting needles, then we can also utilise the laser acupuncture tool which is totally pain free, and is often used when treating children. It can be very effective as an alternative.

Herbs are a wonderful! We source the best possible quality herbs available in Australia. We utilise mostly Chinese herbal medicine in this clinic and depending on the condition we are treating we may prescribe them as:

Your practitioner will go through how to take the herbal medicines prescribed to you, but if in doubt – please call the clinic on 03 9478 3017.

If you are currently taking Western pharmaceuticals – most of the time we are able to take herbs alongside these. During our studies we undertake training in Western biomedicine and pharmacology to ensure that we can safely prescribe Chinese herbs to people who may be taking other medication.
