Fertility

How we can aid with Fertility

Preconception care

If you are planning to have a family soon, this is wonderful. Give yourself some time to get your body healthy and ready for conception. We recommend doing at least 3 months of treatment, incorporating Chinese medicine, during which we will work with you to lay the best foundations for optimising your fertile health. If there are medical conditions, such as PCOS, endometriosis, no periods, irregular, or painful periods, this may take a bit longer. However, if you have already started trying—don’t worry, we can still help!

Natural Fertility

Sometimes the road to conception is uncertain, stressful, and difficult. At our acupuncture clinic, we work with couples who are having trouble conceiving or who have been diagnosed with complications that may be hindering an easy path to conception. During this time, we may also suggest additional blood tests and scans that could be important. We generally work together with Western medicine to gain a complete understanding of what is happening and where we can help.

IVF Acupuncture

There have been many studies that show how acupuncture can positively improve the outcome of IVF. To support you during this time, our acupuncture clinic would ideally like to see patients three months before you start IVF; however, it’s never too late to start and gain the benefits if you are in the middle of it all. We generally see patients once a week but will also try to time your acupuncture session according to where you are in your IVF cycle.

Men's health and optimising fertility

It takes two to make a baby, and the health of your partner really does matter. We’ve helped men achieve better sperm results with regular acupuncture treatment. This will require a minimum of 3 months to see changes, as this is the time it takes for the sperm cells to mature. We would generally suggest herbal medicine together with regular acupuncture treatment… (and please don’t fret! The points we use are on the hands, feet, legs, abdomen, and back).

Pregnancy

If you are pregnant and it has been a difficult journey to conceive, treatment doesn’t have to stop just yet. We are here to support you during this crucial time, as it can be just as anxious (if not more!) than when you were trying to conceive. Our fertility acupuncture Melbourne is designed to help ease your concerns and support your pregnancy.

During the first 12 -14 weeks we help support your pregnancy

  • to help minimise the risk of miscarriage
  • ease any nausea or morning sickness that you may be experiencing.

After the first trimester you can sit back and relax a little and hopefully your nausea has finally eased. We recommend having treatments every month or so just to make sure everything is going well. We can assist with any issues that may arise during this time such as:

  • pre-eclampsia
  • low lying placenta (placenta praevia)
  • breach presentation

From week 36 onwards we can help prepare the body for the upcoming labour.

Post-partum health care

In many cultures, this is the time when your family will come to look after you, cook you plenty of nourishing meals, and help with the baby so you can rest. Today, in our busy lives, this isn’t always possible, so finding time for your own self-care can be limited. In addition to fertility treatments, we can offer herbal tele-consultations for your convenience to help with any post-partum issues that may be arising.

Our herbal medicines are safe to take and can often help with:

  • lactation complications, such as milk supply or mastitis.
  • lack of energy and replenishing blood
