Davina grew up with a Chinese mother and English father, and lived in parts of South East Asia in her early years. Her mother would often hand her small black pills to take if there were digestive ailments or cook her up a herbal soup to drink with any menstrual issues. These herbs and pills were just a part of her mothers medicine cabinet. In her late teen years Davina had first-hand experience of having acupuncture and herbal medicine to help with her own health issues, and this is when it sparked her own interest in natural medicine and the healing power of the body. After starting a degree in fine arts Davina switched over to study Chinese medicine and has never looked back.
“Healing is not a science but the intuitive art of wooing nature” – W.H Auden
Davina has been practising since 2004 and has recently taken over this clinic space. She’s excited to be practising in the northern suburbs close to the community in which she lives.
For the last 20 years she has worked alongside Steven Clavey who specializes in Chinese medicine gynaecology and has gained extensive training from him over the years. She also worked within the Fertility Pod for many years, assisting many women during their IVF cycles. In 2009 she completed the Diploma of Chinese Medicine Dermatology with the renowned Mazin Al-Kafaji in the UK, she is one of only two people in Australia to have completed his course. Davina has also travelled to China and did an internship at the Zhe Jiang Provincial Hospital where both Chinese medicine and Western medicine collaborate their health systems together.
She has a keen interest in womens’ health, skin issues, and treating children, although has also helped many people over the years for an array of conditions.
When she is not working, Davina is busy with her two young children and enjoys pottering around her garden and going for walks and hikes around the area.
